July 4th Sales: The good, the bad and the excellent

July 4th Sales: The good, the bad and the excellentpexels-photo-892720

As an avid clearance and sale shopper, I find that the week of 4th of July to be a time that is especially rewarding in my findings. Although it feels like summer has just started, stores are already starting to try to unload their summer apparel, gear, and other products. July 4th weekend is the perfect time to stock up on swimsuits, beach towels, shorts, coolers, or anything else you may need for your July, August, or even early September vacation at a bargain of a price.

One common problem I run into with these holiday weekend sales is that between in-store shopping and online sales, we have a lot of options to shop and not a whole lot of time to take advantage. In order to make the best of both worlds work for you, make use of this trick. Stores like J.C. Penney's, Macy's, Old Navy, Target, and Express often have great online sales on swimsuits, shorts, short-sleeve shirts, and tank-tops. Check their websites first if you're in search of a specific color or pattern article of clothing. That way, you have the best chance of finding exactly what you want without wasting the time and gas in the early July heat running to different stores. However, if you're just looking to take advantage of a July 4th sale and clearance rack, store-surfing is your better bet. Your local J.C. Penney's and Macy's always have huge clearance racks during their July 4th sale.

I've also had great luck at stores like American Eagle and Aeropostale in the days leading up to the 4th of July. The sales at both of these stores almost always guarantee a selection of low-priced tank tops, shorts, bathing suits, and flip flops.

Certain stores also have great July 4th sales on summer appliances and other needs, aside from clothing. Walmart and Target drop prices on grills, coolers, and sometimes even air conditioners. A helpful hint to buying appliances is to pay attention to the ad campaigns: many times, stores will advertise their willingness to price match, so research your appliances at other store options to make sure you're getting the best deal!

July 4th sales very often also include sunglasses. If shopping at an outlet mall that requires you to walk outside to get from store to store, many stores will take advantage of the sunlight blinding you as you look for deals. Stores like American Eagle and Aeropostale very often have 2 for 1 deals on sunglasses at the counter to capitalize on impulse buyers in need of some eye protection. However, these deals can definitely be worth it if you're in need of some shades to wear to the beach as well!
